This small extension shows how a minor change can have a big impact on the quality of a living space. The house had previously been extended with an unusual step in the rear wall; presumably because of the close proximity of drains. As a result, the kitchen lacked natural light and was disconnected from the living space. By adding another small extension, and removing internal walls, the lighting levels are improved significantly and the kitchen is opened up to the living spaces.
